Let’s build a Stronger and more inclusive Future Together
I believe that economic empowerment is the foundation for a prosperous and inclusive society and it will transform ONELGA beyond the expectation of spectators if aptly utilized. Our campaign is dedicated to creating opportunities for all citizens to thrive, regardless of their background or economic status. By focusing on entrepreneurship, job creation, skill development, financial access, and digital infrastructure, we aim to build a robust economy for ONELGA that works for everyone and can compete with the economy of some states. Some key areas of focus include the following
1. Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of our economy and every successful economy worldwide, driving innovation and job creation. We will implement policies that provide SMEs with easier access to funding, reduce regulatory burdens, and create a more favorable business environment. My goal is to help the moi-moi seller become a moi-moi merchant, to make our local products sort after across the country and beyond. I know from experience that there are lots of ambitious business people in ONELGA who have the potential of expanding and employing many, so I am committed to help them see the light and thrive.
2. Creating Jobs and Enhancing Workforce Development
Job creation is at the heart of our economic empowerment strategy. We have thousands of graduates many of whom are currently unemployed or unemployable. We will invest in sectors with high growth potential, such as technology, renewable energy, and manufacturing, to create new job opportunities. Additionally, we will enhance workforce development by promoting vocational training, apprenticeships, and partnerships with industry leaders to ensure that our youths are employable anywhere in the world. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the skills and opportunities needed to secure stable, well-paying jobs.
3. Expanding Access to Affordable Financing
Access to affordable financing is crucial for economic empowerment. We will work to make financial services more accessible to underserved communities by supporting microfinance institutions, credit unions, and community banks. We will also create the enabling environment that will not only make the banks who left to return but that will attract more financial institutions to set a base in ONELGA, across the entirety of the LGA from Egi to Ndoni and to Egbema. By providing affordable loans, grants, and investment opportunities, we will enable individuals and businesses to achieve their financial goals and contribute to the collective economy’s growth. We will build an economy for ONELGA that is powered by IGR, not allocations.
4. Investing in Digital Infrastructure and Innovation
In today’s digital age, investing in digital infrastructure is essential for economic empowerment. We will prioritize the development of high-speed internet and digital tools in both urban and rural areas, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in the digital economy. We will also develop digital hubs where IT skills are acquired and expended on a commercial scale.
